My son and daughter sharing a room... help? ...EDIT... EDIT 2

Posted by   + Show Post

Anyone have a boy and girl sharing a room?

We plan on buying or building a new house closer to home within the next 6-12 months. When that time comes, all 3 kids will have their own rooms again.

In the meantime, I am going to take over one of their bedrooms and turn it into a work out room. Our gym equipment is currently spread put throughout the house (bench, weights, elliptical, etc.).

One thing is for sure: we are getting them bunk beds! Our daughter is 7 and our son is 5. They are attached at the hip and get along fabulously. So this will be a welcomed transition.

My problem.. I want to make the bedroom comfortable and fun. I want them BOTH to love it and feel like it's "their room". What are some things I can to do make it boyish and girly?

Looking for some cute ideas for storage, personal space, etc.

Thanks :)

Just to answer a few questions:

I live in Canada. We don`t have CPS. We have CAS and it`s not illegal for boys and girls to share a bedroom.

Also, our kids aren`t being forced to share a room. They WANT to. They have been bugging us for bunk beds for ages. So, putting them together in a room is only spoiling them. LOL

And HERE is what I think we might build (or buy)! We are thinking it would be better to build something we can take with us.

No it's not. You act like the kids are being tortured or abused and neglected

Quoting Anonymous:

No!  It's selfish!

Oh shut up. Seriously.

I'm not saying its wrong to share a room but I will say its wrong to move one child out of their room to share with their sibling just because you want a workout area. Since its only temporary put your gym stuff in storage, the garage, the basement or something

 Hahaha!

No, selfish is injecting your kids with dirty chemicals or not breastfeeding for at least a year.

Letting two kid who love each other share a room is spoiling them. LOL

My brother and sister shared a room until they were 5 and 7. My grandmother told my mom it was "wrong." It's not like the kids are going to have sex, come on! My mother did as she was told and put them in separate rooms.

Let them each make up their side of the bedroom with whatever they want. I dont see what the issue is with a boy/girl in the same room, hell me and my 2 sisters slept in one room and my cousin who was a boy stayed with us for over a year.  Some people I swear dont have a clue..illegal...whatever its your house you do what you want...

Really they are little kids and best friends. so its saver to have all that stuff everywhere in the house where kids can climb all over it? in its own room sounds much safer. Anonymous FAIL!

Quoting Anonymous:

Really, you need a whole room for gym equipment but you are making your children share a room? PARENT FAIL.

No it's selfish every child deserves their own space!  But hey some parents love their gym equipment more!  To each their own I guess!
