Do you hire a photographer?

Do you hire a photographer for your family/kids pictures or do you go to chain stores like JC penny? 

How much do you typically spend?

Also, I would love to see some of your pictures with your answers.

We hire a photographer 2x a year and spend about $500 for a cd with rights to the pics and a few pictures.

I hired a photographer to have boudoir pictures taken. That was the only time I've hired one though. We used to get the kids pictures taken at chain places like inside Walmart or sears or whatever until a friend of mine suggested Portrait Innovations. That's where we go for the family pictures and individuals of the kids.

Oh dear God, portrait innovations is icky :( Why not hire a professional? You usually can for the same price.

Ive done potrait innovations about 130 each time and then did a photographer that I am now in love with and booked her again for 12 mo. And cake smash pics 145 for that soooo worth the extra 15 bucks

I can take better pictures than the chains and don't have money for a pro. Photography is a hobby of mine.

Yes! Portrait innovations is a RIP OFF. Their stuff is crap too.
