Where's my Obamacare??
I want to know where is the healthcare we were all promised under the whole Omabacare drama?? Why do we still have terribly ill people in this country with no coverage? Was that topic of conversation just something else to get everyone all ralied up, or do we actually get to take advantage of that??
So, I mean, you think it is ok that the government is penalizing you for that? Because as it stands right now, you can't afford $895 and you aren't penalized. Once Obamacare starts, you can't afford $895 but you are penalized and still are not insured either way? Sure government, reach into my pockets even more....
Quoting thetrollcat:Well we have no choice but the to pay the penalty you understand the difference between a few thousand compared to 10 thousand a year?
Ya you are right we are going to pay that fee because it is cheaper than the 10 WE SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE.
I mean people just dont get it... Self employed people DO NOT HAVE 895 a month for health care insurance, we just dont have it.

Quoting thetrollcat:hubby and I were comparing notes...
lets see here....
I calculated we will pay 3000 dollars in fee penalty for having no health insurance....
The CHEAPEST insurance we can find (self employed) is $895 a month...
Now you do the math which is cheaper?
Not many people can afford $895 a month, I know we cant
Quoting ElitestJen:2014. And those people will still be expected to pay for it.....along with everyone else.
Besides that, the Congressional Budget Office has already stated it will not benefit nearly as many people as Obama duped you into believing.
There's no question the penalty is cheaper, but remember - it will go up every year until 2020?
The 2nd part is....while the penalty is cheaper, you're getting nothing out of it. It's squandered money. I know it's a tough call....but for someone who is all about the poor and middle class, it sure seems like a "poor tax."
I did pay attention to a point... it was all going over my head and I cant change what "the people" are going to vote for anyhow.
Quoting Ms.Pink.:
Not scammed if you actually paid attention
Quoting Anonymous:crap... scammed again ugh
Quoting thetrollcat:you understand you have to pay for it right? Its not free.
For one it doesn't go in to effect until 2014. Secondly it's not free so you have to pay for it and its mandatory so this plan you are so excited for us going to cost you.
How do people go through life so uninformed about what goes on around them?
BINGO!

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is phased in over the next year. Here is a list of when each provision goes active.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act#Provisions
I have already seen benefits from this act.
1. My insurance company failed to meet the 80% rule in the fall. I received a refund check of several hundred dollars from my medical insurance company.
2. My son has a fatal liver disease and he has not been able to have insurance due to it being a "pre-existing condition". He now has insurance.
When people criticize this Act it's like they are saying they wish my son would have no insurance and would die silently.
No. When people criticize this Act, they're criticizing the Act.
Stop being melodramatic and reaching for something to be offended about.
No, when people criticize the act they are saying they wish it could go back to the way it was - back when my child had no insurance and no hope at life. Someday maybe your child will need an organ transplant to survive and some jackass on a website will tell you that you are being melodramitic because you want your child to live.

No. They're politicians. Two completely different species.
I dont vote. Hence, why I didnt need to be super informed until it became a reality.

I think people need to educate themselves. People just take what the govt says verbatim and think they are going to get a check in the mail. That's why people should do a little more research before voting. Then they are shocked when they expect things and don't get them how or as quickly as they would like.
