Quoting MeeshMom:

I am also a registered dental assistant, but I no longer work in that field. I am always giving people advice. Why anonymous?

thanks, I dont know why that was anon btw.

bad breath can be caused from food, but like you said he brushes and flosses. So it sounds to me like you need to take him to the dentist to get some xrays... sounds like some sort of infections going on. He shouldnt loose his first molars till he is 10-12. So he still has a few years ;-)

my son always has bad breath even though he brushes 2x daily and flosses as well.  Is this a dental issue or a medical issue?

Also, his molars still havent fallen out and he's 7.  normal?

not to bogart the OP's answer, but if his mouth does not have an infection causing the smell he could have acid reflux or some other stomach issue that makes the smell come up his esophagus. See his pediatrician.

agreed. But I would see a dentist first... xrays, a pediatrician wont know about this, they will tell you to see your dentit first. so xrays and if nothing shows up than pediatrician cause there is another underlying issue not involving dental
