No. They were made for hunting, war and self protection. As far as I'm concerned, all three of those things involve killing something.

 Oh, they're made for all kinds of things. It depends on who you ask. If you ask some gangbanger in Chicago, he'd say they're made to kill people. If you ask someone in the military, they're made to defend our country. If you ask me, they're made to provide food for my family, and to provide protection from the lunatics out there.

And yes, I know you're looking for the simple answer here, which is they are made for causing injury or death. But, just like with other weapons, you have to look at the other uses. Guns aren't just used for killing innocent people. Unless of course, you're a terrorist or some gangbanger, or a lunatic. Guns are a tool, just like knives, axes, hammers, and cars. There is nothing inherently dangerous about a gun, just like there is nothing inherently dangerous about a hammer or a car. The danger comes when you allow people with mental illnesses to have them, and when you don't prosecute gun crimes as harshly as they should be, thus encouraging more people to use them unlawfully.
