Exactly how hard is it to do your own taxes online?

I'm really hoping to avoid spending upwards of $200 on doing our taxes this year , we do not have anything out of the ordinary to file this year so I've been looking into doing it myself online.

We have 4 w2s , mortgage tax , and real estate tax , dh works I do not and one disabled child.

Is this going to be easy or am I setting myself up for a headache and possible amendment ?

I use Turbo Tax and it is easy. It basically asks a lot of questions and guides you through it.

If you go to irs.gov and click free file it will let you see a list of different companies that will let you free e-file.

I know it's way cheaper than h&r block. I'm not sure about efile though

It so easy! It'll ask you questions & you put the answers in the box. We file self emplyment taxes with itemized deductions & I would never pay the crazy amount they charge for data entry.

I use H&R Block to e-file.  I think it is easy and affordable.

If you go through the link chase.com/taxes it'll give you a $20 discount on turbo tax. (You don't have to actually be a chase customer, it never asks).

turbo tax is easy to use, I won't ever recommend h&r block online... I typed in the wrong number a couple times, noticed it as I hit next and it wouldn't let me change it whereas turbo tax would.
