My five year old hasn't eaten in three days.

Seriously. Three days.
He has the flu, and all he'll take is clear liquids. Every time we try anything else, he throws up. He won't drink pedialyte (hates the taste), throws up when we give him protein or instant breakfast drinks, and doesn't even want to try eating anything now, he's afraid of throwing up.
Any suggestions??? I'm afraid he's going to waste away...

Once he starts feeling better he will eat.  Right now as long as he is taking the clear liquids and isn't getting dehydrated that is the important thing. Hopefully the flu is almost over.

Popsicles?  If he's been throwing up for 3 days, you might want to take him to the doctor.

You know, like Carnation Instant Breakfast.... It's usually all he wants for breakfast even when he's not sick.
They're chocolate milk drinks with protein, vitamins, etc.

Ok.. no milk.. no milk products. Sometimes, those make it worse.

I would take him in... that is kind of scary

That's what his pedi suggested, but he's allergic to artificial dyes and I can't find a type that doesn't have them...
