We just received an invitation for a sweet 16 party and on the bottom it reads, MONETARY GIFT. Do you think it's tacky or is this now normal?

Tacky. I would naturally give a cash gift, as would most, but to ask would be so rude.

We won't be able to go and I  would've normally just sent a gift card but now I won't. I find it incredible distasteful.

A coworker of mine had a baby shower and put 'No gift, no entry' on her invitations. Extremely tacky. And her husband is a very wealthy businessman. I'm sure most of the stuff people got her, she already had. But I didn't go.

Very tacky. Of course I also think it is tacky when people include where they are registered on invites or lists of preferred items.

Tacky in ways that can't be described.
