I don't like these sites. They give people a false sense of security. It's the ones who HAVEN'T been caught that you have to worry about =/

with this site, i was able to determine, in my town, where the offenders lived, and where to look for a place to live for my family.  It's not just about finding out who you live next to.

Not every sex offender is a pedophile or a rapist for that matter.

I've been to that site many times.  It's hard to tell if the person is after 16 yr old girls or 7 yr old little boys, kwim?  It's nice that there's some info out there, but the system needs to change.

true, but this site helps parents determine WHO has been arrested and charged.

None really close, one showed up as red almost on top of our house but he is a homeless individual and is no longer living in this neighborhood. One a little further away, I have seen somewhere, the mall or something. One in a couple neighborhoods over was a statutory rape charge. But our community itself is clean except for the homeless guy. Guess he at some point gave an address in this community as his, because he doesn't live where it shows, someone else lives there now.

We only have one in our subdivision.  He's one street over.  This subdivison has been around since 1965 and there are a lot that still live here from when the houses were new.  They are a tight knit community!  We even have a facebook page just for our subdivision!
