Before cafemom... I never knew...

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
That moms had such strong opinions on formula feeding vs. Breast feeding. In real life people act like they don't much care, here its like world war 3 anytime the topic is brought up.

That circumcision was cause for debate. Honestly, I just didn't think it was a big deal until I saw the battle royales going on on cafemom.

What ERFing was. I had my first son 7.5 yrs ago. I turned him forward facing at the minimum for the state regs. Not long after I joined cafemom I saw debates galore about ERFing. It just wasn't something I ever would have heard of had it not been for cafemom.

That PA made so many people mad. I never realized how many people hate PA, or think all people on PA are fat, lazy slobs who don't parent.. Etc.

How much crap they put in the food you buy at the store. Or in your detergents.. Not saying I'm blind to these things, I just never would have had reason to question any of it.

That people breast feed to five or six... I never would have guessed.

That cloth diapering was so popular.

That people argued about homeschooling vs public schooling. :/

What have you learned since joining? What arguments on here have surprised you? I know I now ERF my kids. Not to the extreme that some ladies do, but until 2. And my kids are in five point harnessess until 65lbs. I'll also be trying to breast feed this baby (tried the last two times with no success), but I'm going to try harder this time.

I never knew so many people willingly cut up their babies genitals before CafeMom. That is not done routinely in Europe where my husband is from.

Yes. I did not know you could choose not to circumcise your son or choose not to vaccinate.

Quoting AleaKat:

Same here.

We never thought NOT to circ our boys.

Or that I didn't have to vaccinate my kids. I thought that was something all parents did! Apparently I was WAY off!

That your husband will cheat if you don't wear make up.

That if you're a sahm, you should be kissing the ground your dh walks on and never ask for help with anything.

Oh ya. I thought it was what's best for baby.

Quoting AleaKat:

Oh I knew I had an option but I guess what I'm saying is that I thought it was just a hygiene/ cosmetic preference.

I never thought of it as abuse like I hear in here.

I have learned on here that there are some mean ass bitches on this planet who purposely set out to tear you down. I have a thick hide, but damn some people. And just think they are raising up the next generation.

I learned that a lot of moms smoke weed.
I've learned that bringing up pit bulls, will bring out a fight, lol. Who knew?

I learned that if your dh was an ass, it's your fault, regardless.

Everything on your list, plus that there is a conspiracy theory about everything, that a working mom is a piece of shit because she should stay home and collect welfare, so she could raise her child. That you can not bad mouth a teacher on here, because other teachers will rip you for it.

Some people use cloth toilet paper and wash it. Just like doing cloth diapering, but for grownups.

I have learned that it's not ok to ask an autism mom a polite question about her child, ever. You will be told you are an autism basher regardless of what the question is.

I didn't know that so many moms choose not to breastfeed for non medical reasons.

I never knew that so many parents are afraid to let their child play in their own backyard.
