I mean, well, that's an obvious, lol. What I meant to say is I never put pots and pans in the dishwasher. Ever. I have a large family so by the time I'm finished loading the plates, bowls, cups, etc, there's no room for any pots and pans. On the rare occasion there's room, I still wash them by hand. Old habits die hard, I guess. Well, I've been sick as a dog for almost two weeks, and my house is a disaster x10. Oh, but here's the good news....MY MIL IS FLYING IN TODAY! Yay me =/ So in a vain attempt to clean up before she gets here I loaded the dishwasher with as many pots and pans as it could fit. I figured what the hell, at least they won't be on the counters and dirty when she gets here. I didn't even rinse them off first, they went in dried days-old crud and all. They came out 100% spotless! I was really surprised, those fuckers would have taken some soaking and serious elbow grease if I had done them by hand. I was sure I was going to have to re-wash some of them.

Isn't technology grand? :)

My dishwasher ruined my old frying pan, I won't use it for my new set.

My dishwasher seriously sucks (even though it's only a few years old)-or maybe it's my hard water, but my pots and pans don't get very clean in the dishwasher.  It's almost worse actually, because it leaves crap on them that becomes like cement.  I always have to wash my pots by hand.  Boo.

I cant wait to get to my MILs house! I am buying a new dishwasher because we are going to have 6 kids with 1 on the way and 3 adults living in one house and there is no way in hell i am washing all the dishes by hand! I am currently in military housing and I swear they buy the shittiest dishwashers! my dishes always come out with white shit on them. And I use the finish power ball tabs too. I have tried others but get the same issue.

Where are you stationed? I'm just curious because DH is convinced we'll NEVER live in military housing again because we have too many kids and they have regulations about the number of people per bedroom.

We are at fort sam houston in san antonio. I can't wait to get out of military housing! I made them replace both the dishwasher and the oven when we moved in two years ago because there were baked on chemicals in the oven and the racks in the dishwasher were covered in rust. They tried everything they could to get around replacing them too, but I got what I wanted in the end.

On time in base housing our fridge kept going out. They "fixed" it 3 or 4 times before I finally put my foot down and made them replace it. I lost hundreds of dollars worth of food and I told them if it happens again, I would be expecting them to pay for it. 2 hours later they were installing a new fridge :)

Yeah the oven they kept trying to clean but i kept telling them straight out that their attempts were not working. The dishwasher they looked into just replacing the racks which were what the problem was so I would have been fine with that but apparently that cost more than putting in the whole new dishwasher
