Seat belt/car seat advocates (and every body else), what do you think of this product?

They are called Seat pets. It's a stuffed animal that attaches to the seat belt and the child can cuddle with it while they ride in the car. It looks cute, but I wonder how safe it is. What do you think?

Seems like it would be a real pain and pretty pointless. By the time kids are big enough for a belt they've pretty much outgrown cuddly toys. At the very least they're old enough to keep hold of one without it being attached to the belt.

Why would it not be safe? They have things like that already for car seats and seat belts.

I don't know. It's purpose seems to be to put the seat belt in the right position for a child. Most children who don't fit in the seat belt correctly need to be in booster seats. I was also wondering if it might affect how tight the seat belt is.

putting anything between the seatbelt and child is not a good idea. If they need to cuddle something, just get a teddy bear

It seems like it would be a giant pain in the rear to mess with. I would also think how it affects the functionality and fit of the seat belt.

But it would add a built in pillow for if they fell asleep. Lol

 i saw a commercial for these and it specifically says that if the seatbelt does not fit the child properly, this will make the child more comfortable.

thanks for encouraging people to incorrectly use seatbelts!
