For his wife (who had been a SAHM)  if they are getting divorced? She wants to make sure she won't be getting screwed, so she wants one herself. Does he have to pay? They are in MI, if anyone knows.

I have no idea legally but you would think that all assets/debts are their jointly until they divorce so until the divorce is done she is entitled to any money they have.   Personally I think it's beyond ridiculous that people have to resort to using lawyers and losing so much of what they worked for.  If they can't come up with a plan together, they should try a mediator.  I know a couple in the middle of a bitter divorce.  The amount of money they have thrown away just to make each other miserable is ridiculous.  They will end up in debt and lose all they have built over the years.

Did she have to get a job and pay for it? In the meantime, kids cannot go to daycare or a sitter because it's not affordable. I'm trying to help my cousin out, but I am far away and can't watch her kids. So, that messes things up for her.
