Yay! My husband figured it out. I'm sad we improperly filed our W4, and told my husband to make sure we report all our exemptions.
But it's nice that we'll have it soon, and we'll set it aside for the mortgage we're saving for.
Is he a W-4 employee, who gets a W-2 annually? Or a W-9 employee, who gets a 1099? Because the latter is technically not an employee. Which is a sneaky way to get out of child support.

Not sure if you have but if you get cs enforcement to go after him. They put liens on his property. I can't get his wages garnished because of the way his employer does the payroll.
Quoting Anonymous:Mine owns his own business and draws "no salary." And he always manages to file his quarterly taxes so he only pays the money he owes. But I think I could get a lein on him, so that if he ever sold his boat, cars, or house, I'd get the back child support from the profits.
Quoting kimikylemama:
I started the cs enforcement last Feb. He has every action against him and I got a notice from cs enforcement that they should keep his return and give it to me for the kids. If I get it I'm taking the kids on vacation to Disney and Save the rest towards each months rent so I can get a safer, Better place for the kiddos and i.
Quoting Anonymous:No child support. I've been owed child support for seven years and never seen any back child support yet.
Quoting kimikylemama:
I'm getting a lot back plus should be getting my kids back child support. (Crosses fingers)
On my pay stubs and my taxes. And I am not the only one. Everyone I have spoken to who has common sense will raise hell hopefully they do.
We need equal tax. We need yo get rid of these bafoons not paying shit in and getting 4k back. We paid a shit ton in and arent getting shit back.
Quoting Anonymous:You do realize that there was no marriage penalty in 2012, too right? The marriage penalty refers to how many married couples paid a "penalty" because their standard deduction and income tax brackets were less than twice those of singles. But that was prior to 2001, not 2012. I haven't understood the tax changes for 2013 yet to know if we will return to that.

We are getting way less than half of what we paid in. I am so annoyed!
Way to go Obama! Way to go marriage penalty.
Stupid govt
Quoting Anonymous:Yes, but that's because of the EITC that Ford instituted, Reagan expanded, and Bush further expanded. Clinton has been the only president who considered limiting the EITC, but Bush economists rushed to its defense.
Quoting mamatocaleb:My state gave me 200 for being married. But yes if we weren't and I claimed the kids I would get back almost as much as I made all year!

Meh, it's our most successful poverty reduction program. People who qualify for it are much more likely to continue to grow financilally in their future returns and stop qualifying for it than recipients of food stamps or Section 8 housing.
Quoting justpeachy71904:
Yea I had an 8500 deduction last yr for head of house hold. Our marriage deduction was nowhere near that! Such shit

The marriage penalty never went away for higher tax brackets above 15%. Obama didn't have anything to do with that. Even if the Bush tax cuts were extended, the 25% bracket would end at $87,850 for singles, but only at $146,400 for joint filers. And the highest bracket starts at the same income level regardless of whether the filer is a married couple or a single person.
The EITC is not a democrat/liberal/progressive program, so Obama cannot be blamed for it. It's our most successful form of PA, partially because the recipients use it as a tax credit, so they do not feel that it's PA. They do not have to elect to use it by going to a special building or website, like other programs. And this makes them extremely willing to get off of it, which is why it is the form of PA that is most likely to lead to a successful financial future without further PA accessed. The downside, since part of how it works is by making the recipient unaware of its benefits, is that so many recipients are unaware of it, and give the Republican no credit. Because Republicans do care as much as Democrats about getting citizens out of poverty, they just do not believe that saying stand in this line to get food will do that. What they are doing is like sneaking money in someone's clean laundry, so they can continue to afford to work.
