My dad works on a farm and they raise chickens for the chicken processing plant in the next town. The chicks are brought to them after hatching. Part of his job is to walk through them and dispose of any that are sickly or malformed etc. He brought one home to show my son and even though I went with him as a child and have seen some odd malformed chickens this was new even to me.

It has 4 legs.

My dad took it to dispose of it humanely the back legs did not work and knock it off balance so it couldn't get to food or water. It would die anyway and he didn't want it to suffer for no reason.

Do you mind sharing how he disposes of the sick and deformed chicks?

The chicken processing plant has guidelines they have to break their necks quickly. I don't think it is very humane but that is what he has to do.
