My oldest two children sleep upstairs in separate bedrooms. Dh and I sleep in the main level of the house. For the past two weeks my older kids (3&5) have been talking about Aliens being upstairs in my Dd's room, they say the are green and not nice. I first I blew it off as imagination and assumed they saw something on tv. I kind of ignored them when they talked about it because I didn't want to encourage the behavior.
Friday morning when I woke up my Ds was sleeping on the floor of my bedroom and Dd was on the couch, when I asked why they both said it was because of the Aliens. Saturday morning when I got up they were both cuddled up on the couch... because of the Aliens. I decided it was time to do something so at bed time last night Dh and I went upstairs and looked for anything that might be making noise or scaring them, we checked to see that no tree branches were scraping the windows and nothing that could be casting scary shadows we didn't find anything so we told the kids nothing was going to come in the house and let them watch us check the locks on the windows. We tucked them in and no one was scared.
This morning I found two little ones curled up in the dog bed, with the dog, all three sound asleep. When they woke up they said the Aliens came back.
I don't know what else to do! I am thinking about sleeping in Dd's room and having Dh sleep in Ds's room tonight so we can figure out what is scarring them but I don't want them to get used to us sleeping with them.
Wwyd? Any one have any advice?

Update:

Last night Dh slept in Ds room, peacefully all night. Last night I slept in Dd's room with Dd an one year old and an 80lb black lab. Not. So. Peacefully.

We tucked the kids in then watched a little tv before bed. At 9 pm I took the baby and put him in his pack and play in Dd's  room. I slept in Dd's bed with her, she has a full sized bed.  I fell asleep immediately and slept awesome for an entire 10 minutes before something cold, wet and clammy started rubbing my calf. I lay there with my eyes closed for a moment and though.. Alien?

Then common sense set in and I realized it was preschooler toes.

I scooted over and tried to go back to sleep. I started drifting off and something began tickling my back. Toddler hair.

I got up and moved to the other side of the bed as, in her sleep, Dd had scooted completely against and had me plastered to the wall. I started drifting again and baby started fussing. I tried to wait and see if he would self sooth but his fussing started to disturb Dd, so I pulled him in bed with us.  We all fell asleep peacefully.

I woke up to hours later squished between to little ones and with the 80 lb dog on me feet. I submitted to the fact personal space while sleeping was not going to happen and fell back asleep.

4:22 a.m something started beeping, softly enough at first and then louder. Dd clutched my face and whispered, "Alien"

I asked her to lay by her baby brother so I could check it out. She curled up in a ball around her baby brother and next to the dog.

I would have been more concerned had the dog shown any sign of anxiety, but he showed no response what so ever but to lick Dd when she cuddled closer to him.

The beep sounded as if it was coming from the window so I walked over to investigate. I looked down at the toy box... flashing lights. I dig to the bottom of the toy box and find... A long forgotten toy in need of new batteries. I pulled the batteries and curled up on the pillows.

Everyone slept the rest of the night. This morning Ds told Dh, "The alien never showed up last night, they must be afraid of you."
