I went to the grocery store today.  I got turned around and walked down an isle I have never been down before, and I was appalled at what I seen! All in one isle I saw a bunch of junk food!  Candies and snack cakes and cookies... THEN I went to go to the next isle and its full of nothing but sodas, chips and dip!!!!  WTH? Why is this legal?!  How?!  I can't believe that people are actually allowed to buy this crap, and they actually feed it to their kids?! I am going to call my local congressmen and make a complaint.  No one should be allowed to buy these things!  I don't care who's money they are using, its just not right!

*  I know, sounds ridiculous doesn't it?... Now think about how you -PA posters- sound every time you make just as big of an idiotic post.  It might be the gov money people are spending, but its going to be spent either way.  Regardless if they spend it on fruits and veggies, or on chips and snack cakes. If they run out and all they have is crap, its on them. Not you not I. So why not mind your own business? If its that big of a deal, why not push to have all the processed crap out there illegal all together?  No one should be buying it then, based on your inane rants.  I on the other hand couldn't care less what others buy with their own money or otherwise.*

Sooooooo, ummmmm, yeah, what about government employees that get paid with "your" tax dollars and are on government insurance? Since "your" tax dollars are paying for their food and health insurance, should you get to tell them how to eat too?

Quoting Anonymous:

Do you know what a communist is?  A communist would only allow you to only buy groceries in a government grocery store with government money. If I were a communist I would NOT have said that you are free to spend YOUR money as you please.

Why is it my business?

1.  I'm paying taxes to feed these people

2.  Eating like crap leads to many health issues, which will lead to spending more money in the healthcare system.  Those on PA are likely to have NO insurance or government insurance, again costing me money.

1.. a lot of people on that system today, have at one time put into that system.  And quite a few have put in more than their fair share.  For someone like you to tell them what they can and can not eat is absurd.  Especially disabled vets who rely on that system. If they want a treat, they should be able to get it.

2.. I still don't see what makes it your business on what they decide to spend it on.. as long as they are spending it on edible food.  Again, NOT your concern, not your business.  The last I checked this was a free country, and we have free will.  If you disagree, you are no better than a communist.. there are special countries with you in mind.  If it makes you so unhappy, why not try one of those places.  Im sure you can agree with a lot of their ideas.

Quoting Anonymous:

Because if you earn your money, you spend it as you please.  If your depending on the government to feed your family, you should be feeding them wholesome foods.  Junk food is not a necessity, it's an extra.  Those on PA do not have the extra money.

well, when most great paying jobs (at least around my area) require 2-10 years prior experence, it's kind of hard to gain that experience in 1 year. stop being so judgemental. there are parents working 2-3 jobs and still qualify for Food Stamps.

Quoting Anonymous:

Obviously you won't! A year is PLENTY of time to figure your shit out and get it together. Find a better job...move to a cheaper house/apt, etc.....and seriously..you don't need a GREAT paying job to be able to feed your family!

Unemployment has a time period for you to get yourself back on your feet. Why shouldn't all PA?

Quoting Anonymous:

right, because everyone picks themselves up and finds a great paying job that will get them off food stamps within a year. *eyeroll*.

Quoting Anonymous:

I don't give a shit what they spend it on. Your right.....the money is given to them regardless. My problem is the amount people are given in the first place and the lack of "rules". As for how they eat? Who cares.

Now you wanna talk about stricter time limits (1 year MAX), no increase if you have more kids, and the amounts cut at least in half....i am all in!!

That is not the same.  Do not put words into my mouth.  They work for a living and survive on their paychecks, not handouts.

So what, it's still "your" tax dollars. If you want "your" tax dollars spent a certain way, then it has to be the same across the board. Don't be a hypocrite, be consistent.

Most people on PA are working, they just don't earn as much as you but they still work for a living.

Yes its nobodies business but I should hope people know how processes foods and sugary treats bad for them. im a chef and I never buy that crap. eating those items are like committing tasty suicide long term. why do you thing there is a chocolate cake made called. death by chocolate? not because it's so tasty and chocolaty that its to die for. Its because it's contains 650 cal per serving and 49 mg of sugar and 38 mg of fat and saturated fat. so if you want to live a short life and die a miserable death go gor it. there is always some stores that offers it. And if you by it and feed it to your loved ones its yours and their funeral. Not my business. I never bash anyone for their eating habits. only those who make up my house hold.

A friend of mine and dh's is on 100% disability. Why? Because a surgery went wrong while he was active duty. He has leads that help him walk. He can't so much as cut his grass using a riding lawn mower because of the vibrations will throw the leads off. He can't go through metal detectors either. If he wants a bag of chips or a box of little debbies, why shouldn't he be able to get them? Another friend of dh's is paralyzed from the waist down due to taking shrapnel from a grenade and being shot on his last deployment. Anyone who says he doesn't deserve to buy chips and salsa (if he wants them) because it's being bought with the money he gets from disability needs to stfu. Just my opinion.

Awe!  I will spell it out for you, since you seem to be a little slow :)

If people have a say on what others eat, just for the plain fact that THEY do not agree with it.  And there for, they try to use the PA system as being leverage, what would stop people there.  There are just as many nosey busy bodies out there that would rather control what everyone does anyways.  It doesn't just stop with people on PA.  There are people wanting to restrict what anyone eats all together.  They want it to be viewed as neglect if someone was to feed their child a TV dinner.  So yeah, lets start taking away peoples rights on what they choose to eat.  Like we don't have more pressing issues in this country already.  Then, we can just go the extra mile and limit anyone to one soda a week, then non at all after that.  No that's not going to happen.  Just like its not going to happen,  that more regulations will be put on FS.  If it does, you might as well kiss your freedom of choice goodbye, because not soon after that, people are going to start shooting for bigger fish.  Sighting the obesity rate in this country ( which is not limited to just the people on PA) is a big enough problem to start stepping in and controlling what anyone buys.

If you don't get that, here is a more simple way of putting it... people take other peoples rights away.. then people get the idea that they should have more of a say, and expand their quests to control every one.  Because THEY feel others are not living up to THEIR standerds.  All I am saying is to mind your own business.  Im sure you and the rest of the american people.. including those in political office, have more things to think about than what other people put on their dinner table.

First I think if we got rid of all food products that are bad or could be bad for a person, there would be no food on shelves.

Second, I think its funny how people think they should have a say in what PA recipients spend fs because of "tax dollars" yet don't question the trillions of dollars our government spends on non PA programs.

Third, along the lines of 2 but that they think their tax dollars even pay a fraction of these programs. Idk about other states, but I know in mine, fs is largely funded by lotto revenue. I've looked, the 3 top areas our states lotto revenue goes to is dot, schools, nutrition programs WIC and SNAP.

Fourth I think it's funny how people are willing to let their ignorance show through those type of posts. I'm not saying they are stupid, they just haven't bothered to take the 20 minutes it'd take to find out accurately what "their tax dollars" go to and take scapegoating by the government at its word.
