My friend bought her 16 year old daughter a brand new car. Her dd had a fit because it didn't have a sunroof. Mom brought it into some shop and got a sunroof installed. I'd have brought it back to the dealer and taken the loss. You know any entitled little ladies or gentlemen? Please share.

Edit:  Some of you thought that I was looking down on for her getting a brand new car.  I don't think the fact that she got a new car made her entitled.  I think the fact that she was so ungrateful that she threw a fit because it didn't have a sunroof made her an entitled brat.  What happened to just being grateful that you were given something that the person thought you would really like, whether or not it was exactly what you wanted?

My co-worker offered to go halfsies on a car for her 16 yo dd last year. I guess when the topic came up she asked 'how much does it cost and what color is it?' And when she told her she would match her $1000 she had saved up she responded with 'ugh, what kind of a car do you think I could get with $2000?!'
I feel so bad for my coworker, she's so awesome and does so much for her kids but they're ungrateful little punks.

me too. I'd be like, well you said you wanted a sunroof. But yes, I know people like that, its really irritating. Even when they get something expensive, if it's not what they had in mind, they'll complain.

I would have taken it back to the dealer then went and bought her a 90-something with a sunroof.

Christ, that's insane.

My first "new" car was a 1979 VW Rabbit.

I think personally that you should never buy a new driver a brand new car of any kind. My friend got a brand new car where she got her license when we where in high school and not long after swerved to miss a dog and hit a wooden log fence and broke the front axle and dropped the engine.

its common where i am from...

i got a new car when i was 16.  i got a toyota corolla.. granted nothing special, but at the time it was a new 1990 Corolla  my friend got a new BMW, and a different friend got a porche.

a very close family friend got a Ferrari when he turned 16.

i think i know a handfull of people who got a used car for their 16th birthday or had to pay for their own car...

i dont think its entitlement, i think it is what it is.. and maybe in your circle of friends it is not the norm, but for me, it was.  yes my friend who got the porche didnt like the BMW her parent bought for her.

yes all new vehicles.  not used, not pre-owned.  than again, this was 22+ years ago when cars were much cheaper
