My seven year old DD has become very mouthy, and talks back and talks hateful to her 6 year old little sister.  Today I have had enough, every single time her mouth went off today I have taken a privilege away for two weeks...so far she has lost her DS, computer usage, TV in her room, radio (she loves to dance), going to the park (we do about three times a week), she will not be spending the night with her cousin Friday night AND her bed time is now seven for the next two weeks.  If the behaviour continues, I will continue to keep these things from her.  She is in her bed right now reading TO her little sister...I think it's working already...

Then maybe if she keeps up the good behavior, she could earn back some of those dozen priveleges you took away from her?

That's a long time to take things away at that age.

Oh it's sticking.  She can beg, cry and plead for her stuff...but I will remind her why she lost it (when she acts like she SHOULD have her stuff).
