If you had an induction please come here.

If you've had an induction, would you mind answering a few questions?

Would you have an induction again if need be?

How far along were you when you had your induction?

Was it planned very far in advance?

How long did your labor last?

Was it the overnight induction (with cervidil (sp) or the like) or the one you came in for in the morning and just had Pitocin?

Were you dilated before the start of the induction? How far?

Did they offer an Epidural? How long into the induction was it offered?

Did you take the Epi?

Did your induction wind up with a C-Section?

IF YES TO THE C-SECTION:

How long did you labor beforehand?

Were you given the option of the C-sec or was is considered "emergency"?

Would you consider the induction a failure?

*thanks for the time to answer these questions. I may have 1 or 2 more if I can remember them.*

1 mom liked this

I don't have a single good thing to say about childbrith and I wouldn't wish the hell of pitocin on my worst enemy.

Quoting ramonafrog:

Me too. It was horrible. Was induced Monday morning at 6 and didn't have the baby until 4 Friday afternoon and ended up having a cesarean. I had contractions all week... All days and night even while I slept.

Quoting Beth3721:

Are you sure you really want to know?  I had a ridiculously horrible induction and c-section and I think it would probably scare expecting mothers..

Would you have an induction again if need be? Only if I had to. I would much prefer natural birth.

How far along were you when you had your induction? 40 weeks 4 days, 41 weeks, 42 weeks

Was it planned very far in advance? No x3

How long did your labor last? 13.5 hours, 2 hours, 45 minutes

Was it the overnight induction (with cervidil (sp) or the like) or the one you came in for in the morning and just had Pitocin?
Went in in the AM, got pitocin and had my water broke x3.
Were you dilated before the start of the induction? How far? Yes x3. 1 cm, 3 cm, 1 cm

Did they offer an Epidural? How long into the induction was it offered? No. Epidural was not an option at my local hospital. It was only offered to mothers needing a c-section.

Did you take the Epi? No x3

I didn't need a c-section.

Would you have an induction again if need be?  Yes.

How far along were you when you had your induction? 40 weeks, 3 days.

How long did your labor last? 13 hours

Was it the overnight induction (with cervidil (sp) or the like) or the one you came in for in the morning and just had Pitocin? I wasn't dilated at all but my water broke so they inserted a dilation tool into my cervix while starting Pitocin.

Did they offer an Epidural? How long into the induction was it offered? I asked for it 7 hours into labor

Did you take the Epi? Yes

Would you have an induction again if need be? HELL NO

How far along were you when you had your induction? I was induced the night before my due date.

Was it planned very far in advance? Two weeks. The dr. said if I didn't go into labor on my own on or before my due date, he wanted to induce me.

How long did your labor last? Well over 24 hours.

Was it the overnight induction (with cervidil (sp) or the like) or the one you came in for in the morning and just had Pitocin? Mine was overnight. They started with the cervidil but it wasn't working so they gave me Pitocin the next morning.

Were you dilated before the start of the induction? How far? Not at all.

Did they offer an Epidural? How long into the induction was it offered? They offered the epi because I was given WAY too much Pitocin, my contractions were coming one on top of another with only seconds between. I couldn't even catch my breath.

Did you take the Epi? I didn't really have a choice.

Did your induction wind up with a C-Section? Sure did.

IF YES TO THE C-SECTION:

How long did you labor beforehand? Over 24 hours.

Were you given the option of the C-sec or was is considered "emergency"? The dr. and nurse kept fighting. I was fully dialated but the baby's head was not descending. My water had been broken and it was quickly becoming an emergency.

Would you consider the induction a failure? Complete failure but I was young, stupid and on Medicaid so I had to use the dr. who took Medicaid. My body was not even remotely ready to go into labor and I should never have been induced. He also made me have two subsequent scheduled c-sections because he said I was unable to have a VBAC. I had my tubes tied while they were delivering my last baby.

To answer your questions in no particular order , my 3rd and last child wash induced as she was a week late, and if I could have had  all my kids that way, I would have. Otherwise , it was  so nice to walk in at 7 am and have a baby by 3.  My problem is , I do not dilate not does my water break, so with my older boys it was 2 days of going to the  hospital just to be sent home again because I   "wasn't  far enough along yet" even though I 'm in excruciating  pain from  the get go.  With all 3 they still had to break my water, I did have  an epidural with all, but they waited so long to give it to me, that I felt the whole thing.  I had come in at 7 they gave me half a Pitocon pill, told  me to come back at 11, nothing happened , so they gave me the othe half  , and was told to come back,  I barely made it  down the stairs when I was in total full labor.  still didnt dilate, they broke my  water and by 230 I was pushing, I could have  pushed  her out sooner but the  nurses were trying to get me to hold off, as my dr nor the anesthesiologist  had arrived yet.  when they  finally let me push she was out in 10 minutes.  I highly recommend , but you do go into hard labor pretty quickly, as opposed to slowly gaining momentum naturally.  My daughter was 10 lbs and I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer.
