A LONG time since we are using it as a down payment on our home. We always do something like that with it, last year we paid off our car. I can't stand to see people who are usually broke spend it on stupid stuff then spend the rest of the year complaining they don't have what they need for their kids

$3,000 will last a minimum of 12 years (kids' life after moving out fund), and 4k is going into our long term savings. The rest is paying credit cards and we'll be debt free completely.

About 1/2 of it will last until our oldest goes to college. The other 1/2 will be gone in June.
