GL stamped inside a ring?

Anyone know what this means? I have what I assume is a silver ring and it has GL stamped on the inside. It looks to have been sized and I don't know if it took more of the stamp off. I wear it all the time and it hasn't turned but I don't know the metal.
Any experts??

GL means Gold Layered. It's like Gold Plated, except there is no guarantee as to the thickness of the gold layer. So if you're thinking the ring is silver, it is probably silver or a base metal, with a white gold layer on the outside.
