I sometimes have to threaten the kids, but they pick up their own messes. My rule is if I have to pick up your toy, it goes straight in the trash. Believe it or not, my 7 yo loses more toys than the 22 month old. They are in the playroom cleaning now. If they don't have it clean in the next 30 minutes, I'm going to cancel our afternoon plans. I can't function in a messy house.

I'm not a maid for them, so if they take out their toys, they can pick them right back up and put them away. If they don't want to help pickup the toys, they can sure enough find another home!

The boys usually do but they don't really play with toys. Mainly puzzles and they do pick them up. Their room is theirs though and I only fuss about clothes.

If I see them getting something else out and leaving out the previous toys, they pick them up first. No need on leaving a huge mess for later. They have gotten used to it. Clean up as they go.

My kids pick up after themselves. It took awhile for my 5 year old to get it but he is finally getting better.

Pick them up when you're done or lose them. I'm a mean mom.
