Did this happen to your little one? I took him to the doctor because it smells so bad! There is no infection, swelling or any concern. He is just having me clean it with rubbing alcohol.

But I still smell it! We went out and got him some baby colonge!

Rubbing alcohol is what we were always told to wipe the cord off with. Do it a couple times a day...nice really wet cotton ball and wipe all the way around the cord gently moving it first one way then another,so you can get "under" it well. The rubbing alcohol will help dry it out and keep it sterile.

I never smelled my children's belly buttons so no...I can't say I've experienced that.

Alcohol should do the trick. It'll be falling off soon, anyway.

Yea...it was by the baby wash. Johnson and Johnson makes it. Smells like the wash. I just put a little on his clothes

I don't have to smell it. The smell comes through his clothes!

And there's no infection? How odd. I hope it falls off soon, for your sake.

My nephews was really stinky as well! I thought it was odd. His ended up needing cauterized as well after it fell off. It just healed up eventually and all is well now.
