I know advanced maternal age is 35 years old. Has anyone had a baby at the age of 38 or older? If so, were there any complications? Thanks!

My sil did. Her son has hydro encephalitis (I think that's the term...too much water on the brain). She was in her early 40s. My other sil however just recently have birth to a healthy little girl at the age of 38.

I had one at 32, but every woman I know that had one past age 35, their babies were fine(I know several) Some of them were in their 40s.  One year when I was teaching Kindergarten, I had 3 moms in my class that were 45 and older.

My aunt was 38 when she got pregnant and gave birth to her youngest child, both she and her son were healthy throughout the pregnancy and had no complications during or after his birth. My mom has a cousin who had her first and only child at 42. There were some minor complications but no one is sure if that was due to her age or not because there is a family history of it occurring.

My aunt just had her 5th @ 42 -- she was considered high risk but there were no complications - thankfully.

I had my 3rd child at 40 with no complications. I was closely monitored after 32 weeks with weekly ultrasounds and nonstress tests, but everything proceeded normally. I know quite a few women who had kids in their 40's with no problem.

My cousin was 40 and 42 when she had her kids.

Careful monitering and lots of extra tests....but 2 beautiful, healthy girls.

My Grandma had her last at 45. He is fine, she was fine. We are now 29. My mom was pregnant with me when she was pregnant with him.
