My dd is 3 1/2 and can locate South America on a map, said she wants to wear a certain pair of shoes because they're more stylish than sneakers, says the boys in her class just can't behave themselves, tells me which animals hibernate, talks about nocturnal animals, so, yeah, it's about normal.

Haha, my son is 4.5 and says some pretty fascinating stuff. "mommy, the filament in the lightbulb is burnt out". Kids are amazing, he sounds very normal.
yes, completely normal..my DS will be 7 this year...and knew all of that at age 4...he soaks up information like a sponge.
Kids this age pick up things like a sponge. They are listening and observing. Retaining it and spewing it out randomly.
its pretty cute when they tell you a fact about something out of the blue and you're like where did that come from? LOL
