So God made a farmer huh?

Posted by   + Show Post

I'm not even christian, and the new "God Made A Farmer" Dodge RAM commercial even brought me to tears. I was waiting to see how long it would take before someone threw a fit about God being thrown into the superbowl commercials and sure enough I just read through the comments on the youtube video. Why do people always have to turn things into a "that's discrimination" type argument? Just wondering.

Honestly they really didn't say anything about the truck, it was meant to be a tribute to the farmers just as Budweiser has paid tribute to our military in the past.

I am atheist, and I don't care if people express their faith... it does bother me that it was used to sell trucks, I think that's kind of an abuse of faith and while I am not religious, I don't like to see religion used as a tool to make money. I think its something that's supposed to bring you strength and hope and make you want to be a better person, not something to be used to gain worldly possessions.

I'd like to make a video like that, with the maudlin background music, the sad sonorous narration, and with black and white images artfully arranged; but I would title it: "So God Made a Cubical Worker" and would feature a short balding tubby little man who picked his nose in most of the scenes.

The guy from Office Space going on and on about his stapler would be perfect.

Budweiser commercials have always been my fave to watch during the superbowl (I love watching the horse commericals) but this year, It was nice to see that they had some competition.

Ours did too.  It was great.

I'm Pagan and I fell in love with this commercial the minute it started. Whether you believe in God or not, it was a commercial that was meant to make you stop in your tracks and I think it did. Our entire household got silent as soon as he started talking. It was kinda crazy!

Quoting Anonymous:

I LOVE and miss Paul Harvey. It was a good commercial... And I don't like Dodge and I'm a Ford girl and waiver in my belief in God

People read WAY too deeply into things.

It was my favorite, and I do not believe in God. But I smiled through it, because I live in a Farming area, so I understand it. & My ex, the love of my life so happens to be a farmer.  Also it Doesn't hurt that I <3 Dodge Rams!

I was annoyed by thhe undertones and subliminal message...you know, ,"God created the farmer so they could buy Dodge trucks and keep Dodge in business". It wasn't about the farmer and how impotant they truly are to our country. It was about selling trucks.

Yep. It didn't say "So God made a farmer. And then that farmer needed a truck. A truck that could handle his days in the field. So God gave a man an idea, and that man...well...that man made a Dodge Ram."
