Yes, some are misdiagnosed but to say these disorders do not exist baffles me.

A diagnosis doesn't come from your MIL or a teacher. The only people who can diagnose are licensed professionals.

I'm one of the ones that thinks they're over-diagnosed...  A teacher and my own MIL wanted to self diagnose my oldest with ADHD, two years later he's a normal kid with a normal amount of energy and no issues with concentrating...  I'm glad I didnt listen to them and rush to a Dr...  On the other hand, my youngest has sensory issues with clothing and loud noises...  I know this, I dont need to go to a Dr to get her evaluated, we cope and we manage it, but its not something thats going to define her life or who she is...

Too many people think that if they don't know about something then it must not exist. This mindset is all over the place.

My daughter behaves better at school than at home because her meds are working at school and have worn off by the time she gets home. Could be why your students behave so well in class. Ever think of that? My daughter has the same consequences as any other kid in her class. If she gets unfocused she has one chance to refocus when told, or she gets in trouble. All I can say is I am glad you are not my daughter's teacher because we would definately butt heads. I have gotten lucky that all of the teachers my daughter has had have been very understanding, and not judgemental.

Does. Your kids attend public schools...if yes
......then the government pays for your brats too...the samme exact way it provides for these programs....through our tax dollars....I work 60+ hrs a week so if my special needs child needs a little extra help, I don't see a damn thing wrong with it since technically I'm paying for it myself...insurance only pays for a limited number of therepy visits...those visits add up fast when youce exhausted yoour benefits

Would you also sit here and say that your 80 year grandmother with alziemers is faking it and needs to figure out how to manage on her own...no extra help, annd require her to hold a full time job......yea I think not....so going with your theory the government should not ever give her a penny since its not their problem....your rationality is beyond flawed.....you assume these autistic childrem can just miraculously pick up on tasks or skills....

I have three children and only one is autistic....what's your explanation on my parenting....how are two of my children "normal" and only. 1 flawed.....did I parent one different than the other two?....when kids see others especially siblings do something the normally follow suite especially the younger ones...so how was I able to get my other two to not act the way the third one does if my parenting skills are so flawed???????

I'm dying to hear your rationality of this.

Then the parents need to provide. It's living off the government tit and makes you no better than welfare queens having babies on food stamps in section 8 housing. Same thing--government pays for your shit.

Quoting Anonymous:

 The children deserve it. It

It's not like a lot of other programs the government pays for would meet other people's approval. This just happens to be a popular one. I wonder if we know all the government spends money on.

Quoting Anonymous:

So??? The government should fund that why exactly?

Parents claim disabilities for the money. Ssi instead of a job--woohoo!

My son has sensory processing disorder. No ssi.

Btw, those who have kids with autism need the money for their kids. It can be expensive. I know just ours for our kid isn't cheap. He has speech therapy and occupational therapy.

Hey, Anonymous, the therapy is at least partly taught to the parents.  That said, I am often too close to the problem to pull out my therapy bag of tricks, which is why we need professionals to keep us on track.  I can run ABA therapy in my home, but I have to have a consultant to make sure I'm not headed in the wrong direction, and also just to have a fresh set of eyes when I get into denial about something I'm inadvertently reinforcing!

THEY CAN GO FUCK THEMSELVES!!!  I have 3 sons.....yes THREE!! and you can CLEARLY tell the difference between my oldest and my other two.  They are ignorant morons who need to spend some time in my house, they will see it's not bullshit.  I watched my son DISSAPEAR in front of my eyes and by the time he was two he was a different child, changed for life.  And anybody who tells me different can go fuck themselves.

My child has adhd, we get no ssi. I can't even fathom filing for ssi for something like adhd. Yes some parents are out for a paycheck.
