I have to confess something, and I almost feel bad confessing it, even anonymously.
It seems like everyone and their grandmother (and I'm not being sarcastic when I say "grandmother") is reading this 50 Shades of 'Whatever' series. It's always on some flashy display, like forced down my throat as soon as I walk into B&N or even Target.
So, I decided to check it out. I mean, I love the Harry Potter series, and I'm into Hunger Games, and I always see those same fans talking about this series... I want to check out the "next big thing" so I figured why not, right?
Okay.
The series is terrible.
I'm sorry, but it is.
It's HORRIBILY written, and I'm not one to be too harsh on that stuff. I mean, I feel like Hunger Games started off with subpar writing (the first half of the first book was hard for me to get into) but I ended up really liking the series. I think it's a great love story for teens to read, as opposed to say, the "other" big teen love trilogy.
Why is everyone so obsessed with this series!? First of all, just the main two characters last names alone make me laugh. "Grey" and "Steele" really? LOL And then take the subject....... Okay... I LOVE fantasy, but this is like so far from reality... I can't even. And then to top it off, it feels like it was written by a 15 year old girl.
I don't have the heart to tell any of my friends/family what a pile of garbage this is because they are so over-the-top obsessed with it. I'm just at a complete loss. Can someone please explain the appeal? I'm honestly curious, and I promise I'm not out to bash people for reading/liking it. I mean, I WANTED to like this, really, I did. Some of my dearest friends and family members like it. I'm just "..........."
I haven't read it, and I don't have any intentions of doing so...Everyone has different tastes I guess.

I haven't read it. It is not my taste. But I have a few friends that like it and I don't care. We all like and dislike different things.
