Do you go by a nickname?

 All of my friends and family have always called me "Mel".  I don't mind it from them, but prefer my full name when I am at work and stuff.

What is weird to me is when people that do not know me at all automatically shorten my name.  I kind of reserve Mel for people that know me. It seems strange that people assume you are okay with your name being shortened.

Is it weird to anyone else?

Only my mom and sister use it, but they call me Belle. It's what my Dad called me when I was little.

I have a nickname that my family and husband use. My husband's friend just recently started using it and it is so STRANGE to hear. I almost cringe every time. I don't have the heart to correct him though. I assume I'll get used to it sooner or later.

Several nicknames.

Lizard Annie (for Lisa Anne), which my late dad gave to me when I was a little girl. :) My older sisters have often referred to me as this name still.

Ducky, which a late best friend gave to me many years ago and everyone associated with her/knows me refers to me as.

Lis (short for Lisa...my name is a four-letter word, yet people shorten it anyway! lol), which I honestly do not like.

My Family use to call me JJ. My cousins still do. My husband will call me JJ when he is messing with me. LOL!

Nah, I just go by Melissa. Or Melissa Beth if a family member of mine is trying to make a point, etc. lol.
