LOOK AT ME! I have a tax question!

Our accountant said that the IRS is asking for the medical records of children to verify that the kids do, in fact, live at and are cared for by the people filing. She said that fraud is at an all time high and this is an attempt to curb it. I've never heard of such. Have any of you had to do the same?
Yes, all of our children live with us lol. It's a nonissue for us, but maybe not for others. Just curious.

Uhhhh sounds very odd to me. I'd call them out on it. Ask to see the tax law asking for this requirement to be filled.

I have NEVER been asked for those. Nor can they do to hipaa. They can request somethings to prove you were supporting them and so on but not medical records.

No..DH and I didn't have to do that..All we had to bring to the table was my son's SS# (and not even really that cause we're already in the system since we go to H&R Block and have for the last 6 years).
