Sorry for all that, I am not on public assistance, but I'm responding because the other repsonses where pretty cruel. Some people just become enraged over this sort of thing. I believe people should work as hard as possible and do the very best they can..and if a family that is working towards being self reliant needs the money to take care of there family, especially if one or both members are working, I'd rather see it go there than in to the pockets of the people who make the laws and the ridiculously huge cost related to the monster of our Federal Government system, that by the way is taking more tax money out of our income and wasting it than a hard working family down on there luck temporally trying to survive and rise above. So the term 'welfare family" is a term that I could see applied in two different ways. In a data collecting, number crunching, financial analysis application it makes sense and is practical, and I would not consider that a personal offense. When it comes to discussing the neighbor or a family at your childs' school or some thing like that, then yes, it could be excluded from the families description. As long as you are a loving family that's all that matters. I leave the finances of the family their concern. Take care.
If a person doesn't like the term, they are quite welcome to stop taking handouts from hard worth g people and actually support themselves.
Quoting Anonymous:if you hate it so much, go get a job that can support your family.
your on welfare so thats what you are, a welfare family.
