MLK day or Easter?

Both my job and my husbands job have stopped giving Easter as a paid holiday and are now using MLK day as a paid holiday instead. Now you get nothing for working Easter, as its counted as a regular day. As a Christian, Easter is the most important holiday (IMO) and I feel it's more important than even Christmas. I feel slighted as I do not celebrate MLK day (not that I don't feel he was important, I do, just not more important than Jesus.) and I think we should have the right to choose. I will not be working on Easter anyway as I'm a casual employee and my husband works M-F at his office, I just don't think it's fair to others. Im listening to my coworkers complaining about it and i feel bad for them. What say you?

We don't work on it so I could care less.  Although I don't feel it is more important than Christmas that is for sure.

o.O....

You're still getting Easter off and getting equal pay, just on a different day. Isn't being able to celebrate Easter what's important? Not whether or not you get paid that day?

Stop bitching.  At least you get paid time off.

I've never gotten holiday pay for Easter at any of the places I have worked, and never for MLK day either. The places I have worked only recognize 6 major holidays: Christmas, Thanskgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independance Day, and New Years Day.

So basically, money is more important than sweet baby Jesus.

Would you be working on Easter to begin with? Am I missing something?

Nevermind, I just reread your OP.

You're not working anyway, why would you get paid? It's a Sunday.

I think it makes sense. It's good that they are in the process of in un-weaving Christianity from American culture.. It should be that way. If you're goin to get paid for Easter.. You should be paid for EVERY religious holiday from EVERY religion and that's just not practical.

MLK has way more to do with our country than Easter.. Obviously.
