Do 7 month old babies really have preferences in people?

My kids loved everyone and anyone that held them or talked to them... Family, coworkers, Random people in the grocery store etc.

My nephew on the other hand wants NOTHING to do with Random people or family he never sees, he also wants nothing to do with my DH or Dad if they are holding him he screams his head off. But if I take him he is all smiley and happy, even if we are at a party and I am holding him and a cousin or something comes to talk to him he hides his face into my shoulder or my brother or SIL if they are holding him.

Do babies that young really have that strong of a preference for people?

Yes they can.

I have been thankful I have had really outgoing kids so far.  They've never gone through separation anxiety and like everyone.  Not all kids are like mine though.  A 7 month old CAN prefer some people over others for sure!

Oh, yeah. My DD had seperation anxiety by then. She wouldn't let me out of her sight. Strangely, she actually liked her Daddy more. DD2 is my Momma's girl. But, she's fine with most people as long as I, her Daddy, or her Sissy are nearby.
