OMFG....my 10 year old daughter always takes forever in the bathroom going #2...she has her nook and reads...or gets on pandora. I came up to tell her to get in the shower...the bathroom door was locked...big nono here. She opened the door..and I saw a cord in the laundry basket..she grabbed her nook and tried to get by me really fast...she was acting weird. So I grabbed it from her...she had googled "hot sex" and a video was playing. I just slammed the bathroom door and told her to get in the shower...I went downstairs and called her dad...we don't live together. He told me to calm down...not make her feel like she's weird...talk to her and tell her being curious is normal but she is way too young to be thinking about or watching anything like that. So..im balling and went and talked to her. She said kids at school talk about hot sex. She didn't want her dad to think she's sick... The nook is gone for now...but I don't know what to do...she's so young...I didn't want to get into stuff like this at such a young age. I think I'm having an anxiety attack...help!!!!!!.

Parental control with anything they can access online. I haven't had that problem yet, so no advice, sorry.

from what I can tell on the nook...it's block all internet or none.... she uses it for school work too... I'll see if I can add some kind of parental controls...

Don't feel bad, Momma, I've stumbled on my kids being curious and had to deal with this too.  Not with porn, but with one another.   We are a home school family, too, so even without as much influence, my kids still are curious and such.

But I'm with you on the porn side of it... I think I'd freak too, I almost freaked when I found them exploring as it was.   It took a lot to remember that they are kids and learning things... I had to be careful how I dealt with it.

In our family, though, we are Christian and the older two specifically have made their own decisions (so far) to keep being Christian and they tell me that they want to follow the bible, so we used a lot of what God asks us to do as reasons to stave off that type of behavior...

Then we discussed that it's normal for everyone to feel that way, and then we discussed how at their age, though, they needed rules.  If they decided to explore their own bodies, it must be done safely and in private... they must not include other people, especially younger siblings or friends, and we touched VERY BRIEFLY on keeping hands washed and cleanliness.   It was awkward, but we handled it.

This WAS after making it clear that the Bible preferred that they keep those feelings for marriage, though.... I mean, it's up to my kids I guess as they get older, whom or what they follow, but for now... "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."  (it's a bible quote).
