Do you ladies use/used baby gates to keep kids in or out of a room?

Yes. I have one for the living room. It keeps the baby in and the dog out.

I used them when he was a baby / toddler. We got rid of them when he turned 4.

Yes!
Well actually they are for the stairs. We gave one at the top and bottom. While my dd can successfully manage going up and down on her own she still sometimes gets distracted (usually by the cat) and shell slip.
I'd prefer to just keep her upstairs when I'm up and downstairs when I'm down

I mostly used them to keep them from the stairs. I actually use them more now for the dog than I did for the kids haha!

When my kids were little we used baby gates to keep them out of the kitchen and bathroom. We still use the top-of-stair gate.
