Mom Confessions Mom Confessions
Has anyone else grown their hair out to donate it to locks of love? I want to grow my hair out to donate it next year but I don't know a lot about how long it needs to be or any other details. Does anyone have any info on it?

It's a scam. I donate to Beautiful Lengths because they actually use the hair instead of selling it for profit.

Thanks y'all! I might google wigs for kids.

This!
I use Wigs for Kids.
LOL is a joke and should be ashamed.

Quoting JenW777:

LOL is a scam.  They don't donate a free wig to someone, they sell it for between $3 and 6 grand.  If you have dyed your hair or it's grey, they will trash it.  Google the LOL controversy.

Use a reputable company like Pantene's Beautiful Lengths or Wigs for Kids.

I have, and I'm about to donate again, I've got like15 inches I can cut right now and still have shoulder length hair!

Like others said, it can't be colored and you need 10 inches or more.

What?! I thought it was used to make free wigs! I'm so glad I saw these posts before I donate again! I'm going to in the next month!

I am going to yell here...

PLEASE DO NOT DONATE TO LOCKS OF LOVE

find a company that is reputable and will stand by what they say...  pantene - beautiful lengths is a reputable organization.

please do your research

I just donated 19 inches in October, growing it out to donate again, but next time I'll be donating it to Wigs for Kids.

when i FIRST heard about it as a kid i was told you have to donate at least 10 inches. you can donate anywhere you get your hair cut. just tell them you want to donate to locks of love. you can call different places and see if they have a length limit on how much you have to donate. some places do 8inches at least. good luck! i donated once and very happy i did so :)
