News Story

NEW ROCHELLE - A Westchester woman has died after a failed late-term abortion.

Reports say that Jennifer McKenna-Morbelli, 29, traveled from New York to a hospital in Maryland to receive a late-term abortion after learning that her child would be born with abnormalities.

Late-term abortions are illegal in New York.

Morbelli, who was eight months pregnant at the time, was a married kindergarten teacher in New Rochelle and a substitute teacher at Church Street Elementary in White Plains.

The Maryland Coalition for Life says the four-day procedure was performed by controversial abortion doctor Dr. LeRoy Carhart. Carhart is said to be one of a handful of doctors in the U.S. that performs the high-risk procedure.

A funeral for McKenna-Morbelli will be held Wednesday morning.

OMG that's sad :( an abortion at 8 months!!!!!!!?????? What?!?!?!?!? At that point you might as well have it and give it up for adoption....

wth.. a 4 day procedure??!?!?!? :( how horribly sad for the family.. the dad lost a child and his wife.. and her parents lost their kid and grandkid:( so sad..

So sad. It makes me wonder what the abnormalities were, especially if they were severe enough for her to obtain an abortion so late.

Dude.....wtf? Even if the "abnormalities" would be fatal to the fetus, giving birth probably wouldn't have killed her.

Now her husband/partner gets to mourn her along with the child.
