It's a bullshit lie told by people without money to make themselves feel better.
I like money, i could live the rest of my single if I was offered tons of money. But alas I'm a slightly broke single mama.

Money itself can't make you happy. what money can do FOR you can.
It makes me happy to be able to send my teenage daughter on a school trip to Europe this spring. It makes me happy to be able to visit my kids who live in other states and time zones, without worrying about the cost of plane fare. It makes me happy to hop on a plane to visit my mom (in yet another state).
It also can "buy time." I can have a housecleaner come in every two weeks to do heavy cleaning (used to be every week when the kids were younger). That's time I can use to do something else.
