I am in so much pain right now I can hardly think straight. I had my son on friday afternoon. Vag delivery. Had a huge episiotomy. I am breastfeeding and the cramps from that are terrible, feels like labor almost! I left the hospital Sunday evening. They prescribed 40 ibuprefien(sp?) And 40 hydrocodone 5's. The ibuprofien do nothing for the pain unless I take 2 hydrocodone with them. I have been trying to save the hydrocodone for when I'm in so much pain I can hardly walk, I have NOT been abusing them. I only have enough for 6 more doses, and I don't think that will get me through the weekend. Do you think it will be too much if I ask my dr for one more refill? I need to be able to concentrate on breastfeeding and that is difficult in itself, its just something completely new to me, and I can't concentrate when I'm hunched over in pain trying to feed ds. I am NOT a pill popper, to be honest I have always not liked pills but I feel like I need them now. So, do you think it would be too much if I ask for more? I'm not sure how to do it as I have never been in this situation. I don't want them to think I'm abusing them.

UPDATE
so I went to the dr today. I DO have an infection. :( thank you for the ladies that suggested that I go! They prescribed antibiotics and told me to come back Monday. No pain meds though I didn't ask, so I'm just trying to deal with it, its very painful. So how long do u think it will take the antibiotics to work? Do they take the infection away? Anything I can do to ease the pain? I don't have a bathtub only a shower and am limited on money so please keep that in mind...

My experience was the opposite. With my eldest, the second he started nursing and the after pains came I nearly tore him from my breast and screamed. Of course I didn't. By the next one, I experienced a little discomfort but nothing near the agony I'd been dreading. By the third, I didn't even notice them at all.

Of course, that third one was not a usual delivery for me, either. She took three hours, and popped out so fast I barely had a noticable contraction. I remember thinking, "That's IT? I've had worse menstrual pain than this."

I don't have much advice.  Just to let you know, the more kids you have the worse the after pains are.  I am pregnant with #5 and I am not looking forward to that part, but I will just deal with it.  It doesn't last forever.  I am actually surprised that you are still having them nearly a week later.

Heating pad for the cramping, it got worse for me with each baby and I have 4. I just want to give you some encouragement, it gets better really fast. Considering everything you said is going on you are doing awesome, good job mommy! When I had the kids they gave me a bottle eith a squirt top and you can spray that down there when you pee or are just uncomfortable. Fill it with warm water. Did they give you witch hazel?

Thank u very much for the encouragement! On the down side of.my appointment, I foumd.out ds has jaundice :( the whites of his eyes are so yellow! I noticed when we came home from the hospital. My goal is to feed him every two-three hrs and get him to poop lots! Dr said the more he poops the more he will improve!

The dr mentioned which hazel. I looked for it.at walmart but couldn't find it, I didn't really know what I was looking for. What is it? What does it do? And how can I find it? Thank you!!

drink tons of water and if you can coconut water, that will help with the jaundice. Witch hazel comes in a little round tub with moist toilets covered in the liquid. It is a natural soother and helps prevent infection. Try a cvs or walgreens type place. Just remember, this too shall pass.

I remember my after pains. I swear they were worse than labour it's self. You should normally give antibotics 48 hours to start working and should start to feel better.
