I don't know why so many people make such a big deal about VDay
Yes I am single. No this is not why I am making this post.
I have never understood why people are so stuck on Valentines day even when I was married, or in a relationship. Every relationship I have been in I have told my so to not buy me flowers, sorry I cannot see anyone paying for the ridiculously expensive flowers on that one day. Not to buy me anything. I would rather my so show me they loved me throughout the year then just one day of it.
I went out one time on Vdays to dinner with my exhusband when we are dating because he insisted on doing it. Never again will I ever go out to eat on VDay. It was a total disaster and because of the resturant we missed our movie.
To me valentines day is just another day to me, but I seem to be in the minority here.
We have our own small celebrations. We don't go out and we don't normally do gifts, unless we happen to see the perfect thing.
Our anniversary is Feb 7. We make that day special by making it a point to spend it together, whether that be a dinner out or looking at carpet for the basement.
Feb 14 is like a little excuse to stay home and have no plans. We normally order Chinese takeout (DS1 asks for it all the time!) and watch movies or play games together.
Then Feb 15th we get to the stores early and buy our favorite holiday candy on sale. LOL
This year I got a sitter for the weekend. DH and I have been so busy, I decided to surprise him with a Saturday night where he can play video games or watch movies with just me and him.
Exactly. At our local grocery store they jack up the price of roses to 40 a dozen. Ridiculous. I have better things to spend my money on. I would rather they showed they loved me all year the just one day a year when it is expected. kwim

DH and I don't celebrate it. We think it's stupid. Better things to do with our money than give it to merchants that made up a holiday to fill up their pockets in that dry season between Christmas and Easter
Yeah but I would rather someone shows me they love me all year long not just when it is expected of them. I do get my daughter something for valentines day though.

I agree to an extent. It's nice to get and give a token of love. Just keep it simple. I enjoy getting my girls a little happy more than anything lol.
I told my kids "HAppy Halmark Day" They just looked at me funny.
Everyday is Valentines day at our home.
It's a day to celebrate love. not just for your someone special for family and friends that you love. What's not to love about a day to celebrate love? :)
