Their SO they had been with for a year what would your reaction be? The plan would be to get married after college but they wanted to get engaged now and the ring was already purchased.



If you don't allow your kids to date then this isn't really for you.



Please note this is not happening to my kid. Dh and I got engaged when he was 16 and I was 18.(18 years ago) Our parents didn't flip out...honestly they didn't make a big deal about it. We got married 4 years later.

I would let them. They cant get married until 18, unless parents agree. Doesnt hurt to have your kid in a monogamous relationship. I'd rather that than a kid who has a new bf/gf every week.

I woudln't care I don't think. I would care if they wanted to elope. As long as high school is finished and they have goals and plans for their future, I'd be okay.

And then tell her that I used to laugh at girls in high school who got engaged and none of them lasted.

Then I'd say quit rushing life and hang out with your friends and have fun

I wouldn't flip out. Id sit my child down and help him figure out a realistic plan. I'd discuss budgets with him talk about living arrangements, etc.
