Suprise my mil with gender of her grandbaby due in July at her suprise birthday party next week? We find out 3 days before her birthday & I am trying to convinve myself to wait, but feel it would be tacky to do it that way.

I wouldn't. Her day is her day. I'd announce it before of after. Not during/the day of.

I would call and ask her. Say do you want me to gift wrap it or just tell you? She might be the sort to enjoy the *grandma * spotlight.

I think that's cute. We did ours through gender cupcakes. My mom and her mom had one sent to them each. Then we cut one open and posted it on Facebook to announce to everyone else.

Tacky, IMO.  It's HER party, and as much as you'd like to surprise her with this wonderful news, it's her day.

This, tell her when you're going to find out and ask if she'd like you to announce it at her party or wait. If she says at the party I'd get her a card and gift with the gender. Maybe make a shirt that says made a grandma in 2013 by a cute little boy/girl named ______.
