if my daughter wanted to date a muslim boy

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

(she is 16)

I would not be happy! And I would probably do anything I could to stop her.

Would you be happy if your child dated a muslim?

Edited: It has nothing at all to do with the color of his skin!

Good luck!

Quoting Val99:

There was a man in my company who was born and raised in Afghanistan.  He was a caring and thoughtful husband and father.  I hoped my daughter would find someone as nice as he was.

I fly out to Afghanistan myself in May.  I can't wait to learn more about their culture.   I know three Americans who live there full time, and the stories they tell about what the American serviceman have done there is horrendous.  I will be attached to NATO forces, so hopefully the residents don't judge me based on what Americans have done there.

Quoting Anonymous:

I hope she doesn't. I would not be happy. Well, I think an American born Muslim would be ok. I don't have an issue with the religion, per say, it's the cultural differences of many Muslim countries. I would probably die if she chose to marry an afghan man. Friends who have been there have told me about them. Raping little boys, beating women, shitting wherever they please, sexual relations with animals.

I want no part in that.

This exactly.

American's typically don't know the difference.

Quoting -spork2.0-:

You have no idea about American Muslims, apparently.

The negative way women are treated overseas is cultural, not religious.

Quoting Anonymous:

I agree with you because those women are treated so inferior to the men.

I don't care what religion the person she dates is or what race. I do want them to be kind, hard working, and intelligent.

As long as he wasn't an extremeist, I'd have no issues.

I had a friend in high school that is Muslim, and he was very respectful to girls. Last I heard of him, he was dating a Catholic girl.

Um what? Islam and Christianity are pretty much the same religion just with different messiahs. Is it only a Muslim person you would have a problem with? And why?

Do you realize those same things happen here by American men?

I don't think a muslim would be interested in either of my children due to our faith.  They would not accept them as a valid love interest.
