The mormon church and gay marriage
I have been meaning to post this for a while now. My uncle is in a prominent leadership position within the LDS church. He was told last month that church will change its stance on gay marriage within the next ten years! I am ecstatic! I am no longer a member but I know many members who are in support of gay marriage. Hopefully this change will take place sooner than later!!!
What is their thoughts on gay marriage? What are they changing it too?
Their current belief system states that they recognize that people are both with homosexual tendencies (they just recognized this a few months ago), but it is a sin to act on those feelings. Now they say that God recognizes marriage between a man and a woman.
The docrtrine will eventually state that any marriage is recognized by God, so long as both parties are consenting adults.

What is exactly going to change that will make this issue acceptable in 10 years-but not today?
The old men in charge that arent letting the doctrine change will be dead and heavenly father will be able to tell the new old man in charge that things are different.
They did the same thing with letting black men hold the priesthood. The civil rights movement was successful in taking out segregation, and the congregations were becoming more open and accepting.. but the racist assholes in charge still wanted no part of it. Finally in 78, it was finally "revealed" that black men could hold the priesthood.
If they sense a particular doctrine is causing them to lose members, aka their moneybags, they will change it... eventually... LMAO
