So my daughter got invited to my friends nieces birthday party in 2 weeks. Cant really afford a gift but I am stretching money to get one so she can go. Well today I noticed a change to the invite throughout facebook. She is now asking everyone to bring a dish to pass to the party. To me this is tacky to ask everyone to bring food to a party that they are not hosting. I can see maybe asking family that is coming to do so but everyone? Is this tacky or is it just me? I dont know what to do now. I dont have money for a gift and something to eat. My daughter is excited about going to the party also.
****UPDATE*******
SO I just relooked at the guest list to this party. She has invited over 100 people to this party, mind you thats just the adults I don't know how many children each of these people have. And the party is going to be in her 2 bed room apartment. And she took an impromtu 3 week vacation to visit her exboyfriend to florida and just got back! So there's more to this then just bringing food. She wants to have this huge party and have everyone else foot the bill.
I had my daughters party in January at CHuckie CHeese. My daughter had a certain amount of friends that she could invite becasue that is all I could afford. Keep within your budget its that simple.
I wouldn't bring food. I just tell people I can't cook - works every time.
tacky unless its like a big potluck BBQ but to change it last min is just tacky
Tacky or not, she is just trying to make the best with what she's got. Don't judge her....
What happened to the days of kids parties just being cake and icecream?????
