Hands off my baby! Spin off of visitors at the hospital post

A post I just read has me thinking. When I had a baby it is my way or no way. I have carried the child and gave birth. The baby needs to bond with me more then anymore else. No one but me and dh hold the baby the day it is born. You can come to the hospital for a quick look but its hands off for a few days. The first 3 months are all me and baby. I did let others hold my ds but not for long. Again you can look but keep your hands off. My mil was the only one with an issue with this the last time but I dont care. She is most of the reason I have these rules to begin with. She smokes like a chimney, made a big deal about having to wash her hands and change her clothing. The thing that really pushed me over the edge is when she said she was going to kiss the baby on the mouth right after he was born. My son is now almost 2 and loves all his family. I see no reason for everyone wants to bond with my baby.  Things will be the same with the next baby.

I can't be the only one that feels like this.

I dont and my sis didnt, but we did struggle with people not respecting our wishes when we had a baby, so would support you and abide your decision regardless.

You carried the kid and you gave brith to it, your the boss.

I kept both babies home until about 2mths. They got their first set of immunizations at 6wks. But I did let people come over, what I didn't like was that my dh's friend brought her little boy over who was 2yrs old and he was filthy and full of snot and wanting to touch the baby and everything that belonged to the baby.. I ended up getting a warm wash cloth and cleaning the 2 yr olds hands and face.
