Does my DD have to get her dads last name?

My baby's father and I are not together anymore. He broke it off. Well I decided not to give our DD his last name. He says he plans to be there for the baby. Him and his family are upset about this.

If you're not married than I think you can use either last name...... but I am not 100% sure!

No, only if you put it on his birth certificate. Wish I hadn't.

I don't think you have to. DH wanted to give DD my last name for sentimental reasons.

No. And they have no right to be upset. Well, no more right than you would anyways.

Did you still put the guy down as father and does he still pay support. Thats what I am worried about.

You can give your child any last name that you want - yours, his, something that you've made up.

Honestly, if I had been in your situation I would have done the same thing (unless I really adored his family and still had a decent relationship with them.)
