Sending food back to the kitchen...

Dh and I were on a date night which is kinda rare so we decided to go to a local steak house. I ordered my steak Medium and Dh ordered grilled seafood. When the food came I cut into my steak and it was on the VERY well done side. It was grey throughout and very dry so I told the waiter and he brought me a new one.

DH thinks that it was kinda bitchy on my part. I feel like if I'm paying for a nice meal than I want to enjoy it and I couldn't enjoy that.

Would you have eaten it or asked for a new one? Have you ever sent anything back?

You're brave. No I do not send food back. I will however ask not to be charged for whatever item wasn't up to par. I know what happens in the kitchen and I wouldn't trust that my food wouldn't be tampered with.

It depends if its something minor like I said no mayo and they put mayo on it I just eat it but if I say no gravy and my food is swimming in gravy I will send it back. I'd also send it back if my steak isn't cooked the way I want it.

I have. I order Steak medium one time, but it was super rare. There have been other times chicken has been way under cooked. I've never thrown a fit about it, but I have asked them to recook it.

Heck yes I'd send it back! If I'm going to pay for it, then I want it cooked correctly. I have to say I haven't had much of an issue with food being wrong though.

SO use to be a cook. He said some people do bad shot to food getting sent back.

how about "lasagna" that was basically lazy noodles in a small pizza pan covered with tom sauce? thats not fucking lasagna. 

how about greek ribs that were raw inside? im not paying for that crap.

as a chef, when we go out to eat, i expect good food. if i can make it better at home why should i pay for it? or eat it.

Yes I send food back. Depending on where we are, though, I may just send it back and refuse anything else. A truly nice restaurant, I would trust to fix it.

I order my steaks rare so I would have sent it back too. If the steak is dry I would have sent it back too.
