Do you think babies are at risk of abuse with a non related male caregiver?

Yes or no? In our city we have had 3 infant deaths in the past year by the Moms boyfriend (not the babies father). A local group that helps women with babies started a campaign on this trying to prevent these incidents. Do you think an infant is at risk with a non related male caregiver?

Yes and all of the infants dies of head trauma. The boyfriends had no kids of their own and were annoyed by the crying.

Yes, absolutely. I remember watching Dr. Phil one day and he gave the statistics for how much higher the odds were but I cannot remember.

Yes, overall, looking at the big picture, I would consider this to be more of a risk. It doesn't mean it's the only risk, but really...Do a poll and ask these women on here where their abuse/molestation/rapes came from. 95% of them will say it was from their mom's boyfriend or their step dad. I'm not saying you can't build trust over time, but come on people. Be cautious. With anyone.

Statistically no.
40% of child abuse is by bio mothers. 19% by bio fathers 18% by both bio parents.
Only 12% of child abuse is perpetrated by a non bio caregiver.

I think so...I can't very well argue my rational bc I have no proof but it seems to me it would make sense...That catagory of man would have no biological reason to care for the child, probably hasn't been around the child long enough to formulate a real bond that would substitute for not being biological...factor in age, & history...I think its a combination that would have high odds of child abuse.
